Hello chess enthusiasts!
Welcome to the Educational Chess blog! I am Diana Durham, the owner and founder of Educational Chess. This is my first post and I am really excited about it! I have been involved in chess since I was a teenager, although I have to confess- I found the game quite challenging at first. I never imagined that some day I would love it so much that I would actually teach it and promote it to the whole wide world! I have experienced the tournament life- I was a serious tournament player with a master’s rating and an international rating. I am one of the former top chess playing women in the U.S., and won several brilliancy prizes. I am also a former chess columnist at local and national level. I started teaching chess in 1990, and loved sharing my knowledge and helping children, parents and educators learn it. I believe that a world with chess learning will contribute to an overall better education. I started in 1990 with just two students and I faced a lot of challenges but was successful in bringing chess knowledge and benefits awareness to schools and within many communities. Most people never knew about chess in those days. Then chess popularity increased little by little. I have taught chess in dozens of schools and to thousands of people. My goal is simple: to do what I enjoy and help others learn chess well in a fun and creative manner. I am also a creative person, so you may notice some art and creative projects- all related to chess. I am also enjoying helping the world of chess enthusiasts- children, students, parents- improve their skills, so I am always adding more helpful information and give-aways on my web site- http://www.EducationalChess.com. And don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter for more offers and information.
